Mike Gardner

Mike Gardner is the Ward 1 Councilmember for the City of Riverside. Riverside is a city of about 325,000 located in Inland Southern California. Mike was elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2011 and 2015.

Mike is Chair of the Council’s Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee and a Member of the Utility Services, Land Use, and Energy Development Committee and the Nominating and Screening Committee. He has been a member of the Seismic Safety Commission since 2010. Mike represents the City on the March Joint Powers Authority, the Southern California Association of Governments Energy and Environment Committee and on the Riverside County Habitat Conservation Agency. Mike holds a BS with a dual major in Anthropology and Geography from U. C. Riverside. He spent 23 years with Southern California Edison Company, beginning as an archaeologist; the first hired by an electric utility in the country. During his career at Edison Mike worked in Environmental Affairs, Governmental Affairs, Public Affairs, Customer Service and Economic Development. Since leaving Edison Mike has assisted local companies with his business and management expertise in a series of short term “fix it” assignments.
